Carlos Abreu Duarte
Carlos Abreu Duarte is General Director and co-founder of DBC. He is a specialist in construction and project management, with particular emphasis on compliance with the Russian regulations, approvals strategy, contracting and due diligence.
Carlos graduated from the Moscow State Construction University (MGSU) in 1987. He spent some time on construction projects in his native Cuba before returning to Moscow in 1995 to work with the construction company McHugh. He moved to Hanscomb in 2000 and became operations manager for Savant and AECOM before setting up DBC with Andrew in 2011. He has worked on many industrial projects, including General Motors in Togliatti, Volvo/Renault in Kaluga, Peugoet/Citroen in Kaluga, General Electric in Kaluga, Bunge in Veronezh, SCA in Tula, Cargill in Volgograd as well as commercial projects and fit-outs. In addition he has carried out many due diligence and contracting strategy reports.
Having graduated from Reading University in 1978 with BSc in quantity surveying, Andrew trained with Gardiner & Theobald in London, and became a member of the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered surveyors) in 1983. After two years in New Zealand he joined Hanscomb in London and relocated with them to Moscow in 1995 to work on the new British Embassy. He has remained in Moscow with Hanscomb, Savant and AECOM before setting up DBC with Carlos in 2011. During his time in Russia, apart from the embassy, he has worked on many high profile projects including City Palace in Moscow City, Gazprom Tower in St Petersburgh, General Motors in Togliatti, PSA in Kaluga and Pulkovo Airport in St Petersburgh.
